The Name
Is A Standard

We are called Engineering Section Group, but the initials carry an obligation we took on deliberately. Construction is one of the most wasteful industries on earth and one of the least careful with the people who do the work. Both are choices, and both are measurable.

Reinforced concrete foundations and columns under construction

Environmental

Most of a building's carbon is poured before anyone moves in.

01

Concrete and embodied carbon

Structure is where the carbon is. We specify GGBS and fly-ash replacement up to 50% on non-critical pours, and we publish the mix design with the structural calculation so the trade-off is visible rather than assumed.

Target: −30% embodied
carbon by 2030
02

Site waste

Segregated at source into six streams. Timber formwork is tracked by number of uses and retired to the workshop rather than skipped. Off-cuts of stone and joinery return to Al Quoz for smaller works.

84% diverted
from landfill
03

Water

Curing and dust suppression on treated sewage effluent where a supply exists. Pool and irrigation systems commissioned with leak detection before handover, not after the first bill.

04

Building performance

Envelope detailed for a 48°C peak, not an average. Thermal bridging modelled at every slab edge and balcony, because that is where the specification usually quietly fails.

Social

Labour welfare is not a policy document.

In this region it is the first thing a serious client asks about, and rightly. Ours is auditable, and we would rather be judged on the audit than on the wording.

01

No recruitment fees, ever

Workers pay nothing to be employed by us. Where an agency has charged a fee before we met the worker, we reimburse it. Debt-bonded labour is the single biggest welfare failure in this industry.

02

Passports stay with their owners

We do not hold documents. Not for safekeeping, not for any reason.

03

Wages, on time, through the WPS

Paid through the Wage Protection System without exception, and we extend the same requirement to every subcontractor on our sites — audited quarterly.

04

Heat

Midday break observed in full, plus our own rule: work stops on any wet-bulb globe reading above 32°C regardless of the calendar date.

05

Accommodation

Inspected by us, not self-certified by the supplier. Any subcontractor whose accommodation fails twice is removed from the approved list.

Safety

Nobody is behind schedule enough to be hurt for it.

0Lost-time incidents, 4 projects
0TRIR, 12-month rolling
0Site induction before access
0Safety officers on staff

Every worker on our sites can stop the job. No permission needed, no consequence for being wrong. A near-miss reported is worth more to us than a clean sheet that was not really clean.

Governance

Open book

Weekly cost reporting against the original budget on every contract type, not only construction management.

Anti-bribery

No facilitation payments. A refused approval is escalated, not resolved informally.

Speak-up line

Reports go to a non-executive contact outside the management line, in five languages.

Every figure, target and certification on this page is placeholder content for a demonstration build. Real ESG claims must be substantiated before publication — unverifiable environmental and welfare claims carry legal as well as reputational risk.
